My experience with Motorola India

Beware of Motorola. Never ever make the mistake of buying their products.

Let me share my experience of two products purchased from them:

1. I had purchased a Moto E on 18th May 2014 from Flipkart and within 6 months, the SIM slot was not functioning. I sent my phone to the authorized service center WIRELESS COMMUNICATION ,55 Manik Tala Main Road,Opposite Bagamari Loknath Mandir Kolkata within the warranty period. They supposedly corrected it but the SIM slot became non functional within a month and again within a short time. The last time they repaired it, they damaged the speaker and I got so irritated, that I stopped sending it the service centre for repairs.

2. My second experience has been more tragic. I had purchased a MOTO 360 on 6th May 2015 from Flipkart. Though the invoice was generated on 6th May 2015, it was delivered by Flipkart on 9th May 2015. I loved it a lot and as I started getting addicted to it, from March 2016, it used to get charged to around 80%. After visiting different for a, I learned that it was a software glitch and it got corrected after factory reset twice. Finally it got conked off on the midnight of 5th May 2016 and I cursed myself for not taking it to the service center during the warranty period. The harassment started from there :

a. The same service center ie. WIRELESS COMMUNICATION ,55 Manik Tala Main Road,Opposite Bagamari Loknath Mandir Kolkata now refused to take the smartwatch saying it will not provide service. I called up Motorola Service Center and registered complaint no. 160506018454. They advised me to go to the service center again and get in writing the refusal to provide service.

b. Armed with their advice, I at last could deposit my MOTO 360 with the wireless charger on 9th May and a handwritten receipt was given which did not even mention the serial number of the device. They were once again very much reluctant to accept the watch for service but refused to speak to the Motorola helpline. They even commented that "Motorola makes tall statements but actually does nothing." After 10 days had elapsed, the service center did not get back to me and I had no clue as to what was happening to my moto 360. I had enclosed my purchase invoice and the jobsheet of the service center to Motorola care [ Incident no. 160506-018454] on 18th May 2016.

c. What happened over the next one month was highly undesirable. When I contacted the service center, they told me that they could not find my watch and would inform me once they can trace it ! They never called back. Whenever I called up Motorola customer care, they said that they would solve the issue within 48 hours ! Many such 48 hour periods were granted but nothing happened.

d. In between, the service center gave me a call and said that I had to pay Rs. 1200 as they would have to change an accessory which would not take more than 3-4 days. A week elapsed and nothing happened.

e. After waiting for almost two months since depositing the device, the service center wanted to handover my MOTO 360 on 28th June. When my secretary went to receive it on 29th June 2016, he noticed the following :

i. The phone was not charging beyond 80%.

ii. It was not pairing with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

iii. Synchronisation was not complete and the watch got hung.

iv. Restarting it, took the battery down to 58 % instantly! I had refused to receive the defective watch which was never repaired even after keeping it for so long.

f. When I informed this to Motorola Customer Care, their reply was “Sorry for the Inconvenience. If you want to make further escalation ,please submit your watch in service center and share Work Order number.”

g. It was quite evident that the customer care agents do not even bother to read the complaints. How could I submit my device when it was already in their service center? The drama became more interesting after that.

h. I received a call from Motorola Customer Care (04042488848) on 4th July 2016 at 6.02 pm, I was requested to collect my MOTO 360 from the service center as it was ready for pickup. I sent my secretary to the service center on 5th July 2016 and he was clearly told that he had no business to go to the service center, as the watch was not ready for pickup and why was he giving all this bullshit of a phone call ! I have written another complaint to Customer care but I know their standard answer would be “We have escalated the complaint and will call back after 48 hours.”

i. Would you still like to get harassed by Motorola India ?
